Which sleeves fit Pokémon cards?

A Pokémon card measures 63 by 88 millimetres, the size the hobby calls standard size. Any sleeve sold as standard size will fit, whatever the brand. Japanese size or small size sleeves are smaller and do not fit English Pokémon cards. That is the only sizing question you need to ask.

What does differ is what you use the sleeve for. Penny sleeves are thin and clear and cost a few cents each. You use them to protect a card that then goes into a toploader, a binder or a deck box. They are not made for play, because they do not shuffle well and tear quickly.

Deck protectors, usually just called sleeves, are thicker, have a coloured or matte back and are built to be shuffled and played with. A matte finish shuffles better and reflects less light. If you are building a deck to play you need 60 to 70, so always buy a pack of at least 65.

Double sleeving, when do you need it?

Collectors sometimes double sleeve valuable cards: first a penny sleeve with the opening facing down, then a deck protector with the opening facing up. That way no dust or moisture can get in from any side. For cards you plan to grade or store long term this is the standard. For cards in your play deck a single deck protector is plenty.

Everything here is standard size and fits every English Pokémon card. If you want hard protection for your most valuable cards afterwards, look at toploaders. If you want somewhere to display your whole collection, look at binders.

Frequently asked questions

Do these sleeves fit all Pokémon cards?
Yes. Every sleeve in this category is standard size, 66 by 91 millimetres inner dimension, and fits any English or European Pokémon card of 63 by 88 millimetres.
What is the difference between penny sleeves and deck protectors?
Penny sleeves are thin and clear and act as a first layer under a toploader or inside a binder. Deck protectors are thicker with a coloured back and are made for play.
How many sleeves do I need for a deck?
A Pokémon deck holds 60 cards. Take a pack of 65 so you have spares for damaged sleeves.
Matte or glossy, which should I pick?
Matte shuffles better and reflects less under venue lighting. Glossy looks brighter but sticks more. Players almost always choose matte.
How fast will my order arrive?
We ship within Belgium only. Your order leaves Oudenburg with bpost and usually arrives within 1 to 4 working days. Local pickup in Oudenburg is free.
